Still Life Painting

My painting career began with Still Life painting and it is a fascinating way to explore shapes, shadows and form. It also makes us all focus on the ordinary - those things that surround us all the time - the vase of flowers, the teapot, jug, or how the fabric of a tablecloth spills over the edge of the table.

To paint still life is to ground ourselves in the here and now, and opens our eyes to our immediate world. My painting classes start and end with still life painting and I would encourage any budding artist to do the same.
